In September 1998, a Marist community of our Sisters was set up

in Maracay, Venezuela,  with three Sisters

- one from Brazil, one from Mexico and one from Canada.

Now there are five

- the most recent member being a Venezuelan

who made her profession in September 2005.

The sisters live in two communities

as a foundation has just been made in Valencia.

The original foundation was made in an district known as 'Las Vegas' and nine other barrios make up the area assigned to  our Sisters.

Visiting families,        religious education classes,   working with youth....

The Sisters have expressed their vision for the future of their area as follows:
Our vision is that this area should be transformed into a church made up of small communities, a missionary church, one which goes out to the alienated, the excluded and the marginalized and a ministerial church, in which each person takes up his or her own special calling.
To achieve this Marist vision,

they have become involved in the formation and conscientization of future leaders,

especially catechists, youth, those who prepare liturgy, women and future administrators.

Forming each person...to take up his or her own special calling..

The Sisters are not only engaged in pastoral work but also in giving religious education classes once a week, giving a theology course to lay people, vocations ministry and in the administration of a medical centre and a pre-school near where they live.  A Marist lay group is also accompanied on a regular basis.
