Let Marists always bear in mind
that they belong by a gracious choice
to the family of the Blessed Mary,
Mother of God.
In her name they are called Marists
and they have chosen her as their model,
and as their first and perpetual superior
from the beginning.’
Const:1872:49
‘
I have come among you as one
who serves.’ Luke 22:27
Membership/leadership is a crucial issue that affect
the core of our mission as Marist women religious in today’s world.
The problems we experience in the area of leadership are,
in part, related to our understanding of what it means to be member.
There is a desire for clarity with regard to the role definition of the
leader.
This will only become clearer in the light of the
role definition of membership and the relatedness of both to mission.
Experimentation with different models of leadership has raised questions,
helping us to explore meaningful ways of being member/leader
We believe that living religious authority/obedience
according to Gospel values
challenges our world, too often absorbed
in power struggles and competition.
