Welcome to the Sector of France !
|
Today, in France, we are 35
Sisters living in five communities at Saint-Prix (near
Paris), Lyon , Belley and Toulon. |
| We have a missionary
attitude to life : retirement or active life, health or
sickness, leisure time or work, prayer or service. We try to be
attentive to all forms of physical, intellectual, spiritual, moral
or social distress, in parishes, social
insertion, educational institutions, retirement homes ... |
| As far as possible, we try to answer the needs
and to promote the rights of those who suffer, so as to build a more
fraternal and just world. We usually do this through the
church
and associated networks.
In the works founded by the Marist Sisters, the Laity
and the Sisters work with the same spirit.

Our mission here in France is in solidarity
with our Sisters in other countries and with all those who work
elsewhere in the world, there where people are especially hurt or in
difficulty. For further information, please contact

In Belley, the old house of "Bon
Repos" has been a Marist meeting place from the
beginning : St Peter Chanel went to say farewell before leaving for Oceania in 1836. St Marcellin Champagnat visited the postulants he had
sent to the Sisters. The first lay Marists from Lyon came to make a
retreat... |
| Today, international groups come on pilgrimage or for
renewal periods to the "Centre
Jeanne-Marie Chavoin" . A museum holds a display of panels
showing the development of the Congregation. There are also some items
belonging to Jeanne-Marie Chavoin.
