The
MARIST SISTERS are part of a world-wide
spiritual family in the
Church belonging to a great variety of groups;
four religious Congregations: Marist Brothers of the Schools; Marist
Sisters, Marist Fathers and Brothers, Missionary Sisters of the Society of Mary,
and many lay
groups.
To be a Marist
Sister is to be
called "by a gracious choice" to follow Christ, by living the Gospel
as Mary did, in a Congregation which bears Her name.
Women Like Mary...
enabling the Church to be
born or re-born,
to emerge or re-emerge.
At
home with ourselves and with our world,
in
touch with life;
Joyful,
creative, courageous, hopeful, simple,
grateful,
compassionate, tender.
Faith-filled,
living a profound relationship with God,
knowing
His compassion;
Risking
being energised by the fire of the Spirit,
discerning
God's action in today's reality.
In
communion with each other,
focused
on our corporate mission, interdependent;
collaborating
with all who seek to transform society.
Optimistic
about life, on the lookout for what is coming to birth,
believing
in its possibility;
living
a time of transition in creative fidelity;
Willing
to stay with the struggle,
to
change;
vulnerable,
risking failure, beginning again.
Passionately
committed to doing Mary's work - anywhere, everywhere,
and
with a sense of urgency;
Going
beyond differences of religion, nationality, culture,
race,
social background;
Mobile,
proactive, initiating, enthusiastic,
daring,
trusting, discerning.
Journeying
with and among people,
welcoming
to all.
Friends
of the poor, the overlooked, the powerless,
those
on the edges, the confused.
"Instruments
of mercy" for the poor church, the hurting church,
the
uneducated church.
